Awareness        Healing       Growth        Transformation

Accessing the Mind, Emotions, Body,
Energy, and Spirit

Life is a journey of awakening, and not only can we learn to witness this process with more heart and clarity, we can connect more intimately with our own life force, our Core Being, and our life's greater purpose.  My approach suits those looking to discover an integrated way of dealing with life's challenges and mysteries, and attending to issues that show up in all the realms of a client's experience.  The MEBES Method helps us look at our concerns through the lenses of Mind, Emotions, Body, Energy and Spirit, and opens up great possibilities for change.

Working with individuals, couples and groups, I not only believe, but have personally experienced, that developing the ability to witness yourself without judgment, connect with the "felt-sense" of the body (knowing your somatic identity), challenging yourself to acknowledge and work with your growing edges (shadow work), and moving beyond perfectionism to embrace compassion for self and all beings, is key to a happier existence.  Recent strides in the field of neuroscience have also contributed significant understanding to the process of counseling: since the body, brain-behavior, and the ability to relate well coexist, we're learning how important it is to re-wire our neural pathways to make profound changes in how we view our relationships and emotional lives.

My intention is to help clients become aware of and change their "programming," the thinking patterns and belief systems that cause suffering, and help them find creative pathways toward healing.  I help clients broaden their insight, resiliency, and basis for choice by utilizing the whole self.  My integrated method helps you:

  • Examine unresolved issues (present, past, Family of Origin, trauma)
  • Learn techniques that help you develop more positive attitudes and greater self-esteem
  • Learn to deal with your mood problems and negative thought patterns
  • Learn techniques that expand your ability to sense and focus, bringing you into the present moment
For those interested in reaching for inner transformation, I help you:
  • Work with unknown or troublesome inner material (discovered on your own or from feedback by others)
  • Inquire into  beliefs, judgments, desires, goals
  • Understand the deeper impact of your thoughts, emotions and belief systems
  • Discover your physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual truths

While I place client's objectives as central to a "process" orientation, I am able to challenge assumptions (acknowledging that ego is not a good catalyst for inner transformation), while offering feedback with a compassionate heart. I utilize a variety of methods in my approach, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Emotionally-Focused Therapy for individuals and couples,   and mind-body approaches such as Interpersonal Neurobiology (IPNB), Body-oriented Psychotherapy, yoga and mindfulness. I also appreciate the Voice Dialogue method, an awareness process that introduces us to different "parts" of ourselves, including our main "operating selves" and the disowned parts. By working consciously toward full integration of mind, body, emotions, intuition, energy and spirit, clients learn how to face inner and outer obstacles, practice their new mental "programing,"  and to sense a new way of being in the present. My greatest goal as practitioner is to enhance and support a client's relationship with their inner guidance system, the inner voice of truth, to use as a compass in life.

My approach is helpful for those working with:

  • Feeling "stuck" in life or relationship; an inability to make changes or actualize one's potential
  • Relationship difficulties
  • Depression and Anxiety
  • Addictions of all kinds, including eating disorders and sex addiction
  • Issues of body image or self-esteem
  • Intimacy issues and Sexuality
  • Loss, grief and trauma
  • Exploration of the Soul's Journey or "what is it all about?"

For those who'd like to speak with me, to see if we are a good fit, I offer a 15-20 minute phone consultation free of charge.  I also schedule 30 minute sessions, pro-rated.  I usually see clients in my private office at the Four Aims, but also do consultation and therapy by phone. Where there is the desire to go deeper in the healing process, I highly recommend (and sometimes require), a commitment of 5 consecutive visits for both individuals and couples.

Fees:  Kat accepts personal checks, and payment by PayPal.  Her rate for individuals is $95 an hour, or, if you buy a package of 5, to be used within 5-7 weeks, the rate drops to $90 an hour.

$450 for 5 one hour

$560 for 5-1.25 hour sessions
$635 for 5-1.5
