Winter 2010
New Class! Yoga and Mindfulness with Kat Allen Fridays, January 15- March 26 8:30-10:00 am
Experience
more silence and inner stillness within the format of a yoga-asana
class. Though we'll go at a slower, gentler pace, don't assume this
class will be "easy." Mindful movement practice can be a strong mental
challenge: the perfect antidote to aging bodies and minds! Weaving
short mindfulness meditations within sections of guided yoga
instruction, we'll focus on being present to nuances of the breath,
sensations of the body, witnessing our thoughts and feelings. For
those who have wanted to start meditating, or those who have always
found strict sitting practices daunting, this may prove to be the best
path into stillness!
Restorative Yoga Class with Milo Minnis, M.Ed. Friday, March 5 6:00-7:15 pm
Begin
your weekend by stretching and opening your body! Spend 55 minutes
with active, gentle asana, and culminate the class with restorative
poses. While relieving the stress of the week you will learn ways to
heal your body through stillness, in supportive postures. All levels
of experience are welcome. Cost: By donation.
About Milo
Minnis: I have been a teacher for over 30 years, practicing yoga for 25
years, and completed the Yoga Alliance Teacher 200-hour certification
in 2002. My goal is to help yoga students gain more mental and
physical energy to cope with their busy lives. I have trained
extensively with Judith Lasater and am certified as an Advanced
Restorative Instructor through her teacher-training program. I have
also trained with other leading Iyengar teachers, such as Rodney Yee,
Felicity Green and Gail Malizia, and received my Expert-rating Global
Yoga Certification in 2009.
Yo-lates for Everyone is now "The Perfect Blend"

New sequences each session. All levels welcome, especially beginners.

Special Workshop:
Daring to Dream: Wishing-in the New Year A 3-part inspirational series with Kat Allen and Bonnie Tracey
A New Year, rife with possibilities Another chance to make a shift, the opportunity to creat something new, or experience a life change...
Bring anything up for you? Each year at this time we all have the option (and are constantly reminded!) to examine our lives, our wants, our dreams, and make new choices, or find the resolve to shift things that need shifting. Yet many of us face this time with discomfort, cynicism, even dread: "What if I don't believe in resolutions? What if I don't really need anything to change, just would like it to? What if I don't deserve for anything to be different?
Clarifying our attitudes and moving toward our wishes with care, even those who have "never dared to dream" will find this series in Intentional Wishing inspiring. Prompted by Noelle Oxenhandler's book, The Wishing Year, depicting her own journey into wishing, we will create a nourishing environment in which to explore our wants as well as our resistances to wishing, and open to the field of both conscious and sub-conscious desires through dreams, journaling, symbols and stories. We will also look at which steps are needed to achieve those dreams.
In utilizing The Wishing Year as one source for topics of inquiry (required reading for the series), the following passage about the Hawaiian healing tradition is helpful in framing our approach:
"Since ancient times, the spiriitul masters known as healing kahunas have taught that there is indeed great power in the act of wishing. It's a power that must be used with utmost care to ensure that one's wish is in harmony with the aina (land), the ohana (family) and the ke Akua (the transcendent, divine power)."
With the power of group dynamics to help us explore the energy and impact of wishing, we'll use movement, expressive writing, creative projects, ritual, homework assignments and the sharing of self and story to unlock the gates of wishing! How else will we make our dreams come true? Please join us!
Dates for this 3-part series: Saturday, February 6, February 20, and March 6 Time: 1-5 pm Cost: $125

"At first a yogi feels his mind is turbulent, tumbling like a waterfall; In mid-course, like the Ganges, it flows on slow and gentle;
In the end, it is a great vast ocean,
Where the lights of Child and Mother merge in one." - Tilopa

connecting with the divine. It is an invocation of blessing and grace. During
the long history of humankind, we have discovered many facets of the divine and

and energized offerings. Lakshmi is the aspect of the divine feminine that is

Please bring flowers and, if you have your own,
icons/pictures/statues of Lakshmi and /or Ganesha for blessings.

the session. Blemishes, prana flow impairments and other harmful abnormalities
are detected and rituals are done as needed to remedy and eliminate any that are
found.

Who is Amaranada Bhairavan?
Amarananda Bhairavan, affectionately known as Nandu, is an
internationally renowned Vedic Priest and Master Healer. During his joyous
childhood amongst an extended family on the west coast of India, Amarananda
trained in Oti vidya, a tantra unique to Odiyyathis or tribal
medicine women of Kerala. Initiated at the age of nine by his aunt, Amarananda
Bhairavan remains a direct descendant of this six thousand year old tradition of
goddess worship. His mystical education and initiations in the ancient Oti
vidya tantric practices are the subject of his two visionary books: Kalis
Odiyya: A Shamans True Story of Initiation and Medicine of Light: A
Shamans Journey through Mystic Space-Time.
A
Vedic scholar, mystic, artist and author, Amarananda Bhairavan holds a Masters
Degree in Sanskrit from the University of Bangalore, Bangalore, India. His
sacred yantra paintings hang in homes and temples throughout the United States
and India. Amarananda regularly travels the world giving lectures and workshops,
performing pujas and fire ceremonies, and conducting private consultations and
healing rituals.
Embodying a rare combination of wisdom, compassion, humility and
transformative power, Amarananda uses ancient Oti vidya rituals to purify
consciousness and remedy distress. Amarananda also teaches classes on the
painting of sacred yantras as a spiritual ritual for empowerment and
devotion.
